Scope of HTML 5 and its Features

Hyper Text Markup language or HTML is a language for content structure and presentation for the World Wide Web. It is a core technology of the Internet designed by Opera Software initially, and the fifth revision of the HTML standard is still in progress. The main aim of developing HTML5 is to eliminate cross platform dependency and improve the language so that it supports the latest multimedia advancements but is easily readable by humans and understood by the computer devices. The latest advancement is developed in such a way that it supports HTML 4 along with XHTML 1 and DOM Level 2 HTML. HTML5 is a retort to its predecessors and combines both HTML and XHTML with various highlighting features. This leads to an attempt to define a single markup language that can be written in both the syntax and also includes detailed models to support more exchangeable applications.

It improves, widens, and rationalizes the markup available for documents, and initiate markup and application programming interfaces (APIs) for multifaceted web applications. There are various features that are introduced in the application like canvas element for instant mode 2D drawing, timed media playback, offline web application and browser history management, document editing and cross document management, MIME type and protocol handler registration, web storage, micro data and drag and drop applications. HTML5 is certified by W3C and enables the user to watch high quality videos on their mobile, without installing flash.
